The professional staff of the LCOG Planning Department undertakes varied projects in the areas of community and regional planning, transportation, housing, economic diversification, infrastructure and history. Some are completed in house and some are undertaken with the assistance of outside consultants. Links to final report documents from a few recent projects, including the recently completed Beaufort TDR Implementation Plan, are shown at left.

The Planning Department also serves as regional demographers and statisticians. The regularly updated The People and the Economy of the Lowcountry is available here, as are monthly unemployment tables and graphs and other data as it is released and tabulated.

The Planning Department features GIS/mapping, utilizing up-to-date ESRI technology to ensure both accuracy and appearance.
