The Lowcountry Council of Governments Board of Directors

is appointed by member local governments. Officers rotate among the four counties and serve a one-year term with elections held at the beginning of each fiscal year. Each county holds one seat on the Executive Committee, and Board members caucus by county to select its representative for the new year.  The Board meets on the fourth Thursday of each month January-October at the LCOG office at Point South, 634 Campground Road, Yemassee, SC.  The business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and there is an informal social time at 6:00 p.m. A meeting will be cancelled when there is insufficient business to conduct.

Meeting agendas are posted on the lobby bulletin board at the LCOG office at least twenty-four hours prior to a meeting.  Agendas will be mailed or emailed to anyone making such a request to LCOG at PO Box 98, Yemassee, SC 29945; office@lowcountrycog.org .  Typically, agendas are mailed out on the Friday afternoon prior to a regular meeting.

Notice of called, special, cancelled or rescheduled Board meetings are made in the same manner, as are meetings of affiliated boards and committees.

Each major LCOG program is guided by committees of board members appointed by each county and include the Areawide Water Quality Management (208) Committee, Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Aging Advisory Committee, Title IX Loan Review Committee and Transportation Committee. Each committee meets as called and agendas are posted on the LCOG bulletin board at least 24 hours prior to each meeting. Lowcountry Workforce Development has its own board of directors.
